The Official Trailer for One Last Evening
The trailer for Lukas Nathrath’s Generation Y drama “One Last Evening,” which will have its international premiere in Rotterdam’s Tiger Competition, has been released. The movie earned the First Look Award winner for the Locarno Film Festival’s business area. Beta Cinema is in charge of sales abroad.
The movie is set during the pandemic and revolves on a young couple who relocates from Hanover to Berlin in search of a new beginning. Clemens is a gifted but unsuccessful singer-songwriter who is paralysed by self-doubt, and Lisa is a rising doctor preparing for a new job.
They throw a dinner party at their now-empty apartment as a farewell. Uninvited guests arrive while excellent friends cancel. The evening gradually intensifies as the attendees begin to compare one other’s accomplishments, causing an emotional crash that reveals miscommunications, rivalries, animosities, and worries.
Films like Maren Ade’s Everyone Else, Jan-Ole Gerster’s Oh Boy, Damián Szifron’s Wild Tales, Woody Allen’s Husbands and Wives, and Thomas Vinterberg’s The Celebration served as inspiration for Nathrath and Doppelbauer because they display how “civilised behaviour starts to crack, and everyday situations escalate in often bourgeois settings,” according to Nathrath. The plays of Anton Chekhov also served as inspiration since they feature individuals living in a backwater who yearn for a new life in Moscow but never make it there.
